Three questions that decide whether we can help

Answer yes to all three and we’re likely a fit. Not sure? Send the form anyway.

  • Is it a family law problem?

Divorce, parenting time, child support, protective orders or adoption. For other kinds of cases, we’ll point you to someone who takes them.

  • Are you in our area?

We serve Durham County and nearby. If you live farther away, we’ll find the clinic that serves you.

  • Is a private lawyer out of reach?

We set fees by income and household size, so we’re built for families who earn too much for free aid and too little for a retainer.

What it costs

What you pay, and how we decide

Every figure is written down before we start, and you can ask us about it at any time.

  • Income and household size decide it

We ask what the household earns and how many people live on it. That sets what you’re asked to pay.

  • You agree to it in writing

You see the fee, and what it covers, before we begin. If your income drops, tell us and we’ll look at it again.

  • Court costs are separate

Filing fees and other court costs aren’t part of our fee. We help you ask the court to waive them if you qualify.

Tell us what’s going on

Send a few lines and we’ll write back

Say who’s involved and what you’re worried about. If it’s not safe for us to call or write, say that, and tell us what is.

HoursMonday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm Friday, 9am to 1pm

Please don’t put confidential details in this form, such as passwords or full account numbers. We’ll ask for what we need once we speak. Writing to us doesn’t make you a client.
